For the past couple of years I have volunteered in a kitchen at a spiritual centre. I have always enjoyed cooking, and this gives me the opportunity serve others doing something I enjoy. I think ultimately what I enjoy is the preparation in preparing the meal.
A good dish is greater than the sum of its parts; in psychology we call that Gestalt. And the sum is improved by the quality of the parts. The pleasure of bringing everything together so that it becomes what you anticipate it should become is a celebration. Preparation requires having all the right things, and then have all those things come together.
You, I, we are always preparing. There is always something on the horizon coming together. What we prepare for and the things we bring together in preparation influence our life and the life’s of others.
How will that preparation and its parts become your thin place?
